The Great Wave of Kanagawa is a lithograph by the Japanese artist Hokusai. It depicts a huge wave threatening the boats near the shore. It was published between 1830 and 1833, at the end of the Edo period, and is the first print in Hokusai's series of Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, which includes not only landscapes but also depictions of animals, architecture and daily life.
